This is the the site of former St Catherine's Mission Hospital Amritsar. The Punjab CMS and CEZMS (Church of England Zenana Missionary Society) founded this Hospital. This was one of the major hospital of CMS and the CEZMS in the region. There were several hospital and health clinic run by CEZMS in the area. like Asrapur Mission Hospital and St Mary's Tarn Taran. There was an operation theatre in this hospital and the patients from other CMS, CEZMS and MSACOC hospitals were always been referred to this hospital for operation/surgery etc. The hospital was closed down after independence and most of its Staff were transfered to St Mary's Hospital Tarn Taran. There was a Chapel, a branch of the Punjab Relegious Book Society, Chaplain's house and the staff residential area in this campus. Now this hospital compound houses around 40-50 christian families. As the main hospital area has been in a neglected state and been vendalised, Would be great if the Diocese of Amritsar under the leadership of the Bishop of Amritsar the Rt Rev Pradeep Kumar Samantha Roy takes and initiative to utilise this place for the community development by starting a school or a technical training centre for the under priveledged children of the area. But lacal christian residents in the compound should also need to take a leading role and strengthen the diocesan leadership and work togather for the community development.

Rev Paras Nath was a CMS clergyman (Priest)in Dharumsala (Now Dharmsala) He baptised some of my mother's ancestors in the Church of St John in the Wilderness, Dharmsala. My mother's great grandfather was a Bugle Major in the Gurkha Rifles he was stationed in Dharumsala, most of his children were born and baptised there. Rev Paras Nath lost his wife and five children in the earthquake that destroyed most of kangra district in 1905. Rev Paras Nath was later moved to Amritsar.

I have stayed in this place and is exceptionally good to stay. One can visit Harmandir Sahib as frequent as possible to enjoy Gubani and Darshan of Harmandir Sahib
